Clear PLA is not glass-clear, and it is more useful because of that: printed thin it diffuses light softly, printed thick it takes on a frosted, ice-like quality. That makes it the material for lamp shades, light guides, LED diffusers and housings where you want to see whether something inside is seated correctly. With few walls and sparse infill it can be genuinely translucent; solid, it reads as a pale natural white. It is also the base colour for anyone dyeing or tinting parts after printing. Local manufacture means restocking the same translucency rather than gambling on a different supplier.
