Larger sheets need a larger platform, and 500 x 500 mm gives you room to lay out a full panel rather than cutting it down first. Construction is galvanised iron with aluminium alloy edging and protective covers at the four corners, so it survives being slid about a busy bench. The open grid does the real work: carrying heat away and pulling smoke down and out instead of letting it stain the reverse of the cut. Because it is a passive platform with no electronics of its own, it will sit under diode, fibre or CO2 machines equally well, which is worth knowing if you run more than one type.
